REVIEW TO HELP GET DISADVANTAGED JOBSEEKERS IN DANDENONG BACK TO WORK

Member for Dandenong, Gabrielle Williams, has welcomed the Andrews Labor Government’s review of employment programs in Victoria. Ms Williams joined Minister for Employment, Jacinta Allan, and local community organisations, employers, service providers and other stakeholders at a consultation session in Dandenong today. Dandenong is one of Victoria’s major employment hubs but faces significant challenges due to structural changes in the economy. The review of employment programs will look at the support provided to help disadvantaged jobseekers, such as retrenched workers, unemployed young people, people with disability, Indigenous Victorians, and refugees find and maintain a job, with a focus on developing a more comprehensive approach to help vulnerable Victorians gain the skills, experience and support they need to forge meaningful and rewarding careers. In addition to the consultation session in Dandenong today, a series of targeted consultations will also be held across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
