SOLAR BATTERY REBATES

Today 1,000 new household solar battery rebates were released to Victorians, as part of the Andrews Labor Government’s record breaking household energy efficiency investment package. $191 million will be provided from the Victorian Budget 2020/21 to expand the Solar Homes program right across Victoria. The package will provide a total of 17,500 solar battery rebates over the next three years, with no postcode eligibility restrictions in place. This is in response to surging demand for solar battery technology, which allows Victorians to safely and efficiently store solar power, driving down energy bills and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The Labor Government will also deliver an additional 42,000 solar PV panel rebates over the next two years, bringing the total to 140,000. Already over 100,000 Victorian households have installed solar panels as part of the Solar Homes program, and this investment will allow thousands more to save on their energy bills while supporting jobs and economic activity in the industry.

Small businesses are also being encouraged to get on board, with 15,000 extra solar rebates being made available to them.

This expansion is all part of the Labor Government’s $797 million household energy efficiency package, benefitting over 1.6 million households across the state.
