PARKING UPGRADE A WIN FOR DANDENONG COMMUTERS
Commuters in Melbourne’s south east will find it easier to find a park with the opening of 150 new spaces at Dandenong Station.
The new car spaces are open to the public, which has increased parking capacity at the station to 485, including nine accessible parking spaces.
The Department of Transport has signed a leasing agreement with the City of Greater Dandenong to make an existing council carpark available for public use.
The newly available parking spaces are south-west of Dandenong station and can be accessed at Carroll Lane via Cheltenham Road. The spaces are also connected to the station via a dedicated footpath.
The carpark is currently equipped with CCTV and lighting to provide safety and security for all passengers.
These spaces are being delivered as a part of the Andrews Labor Government’s Car Parks for Commuters program, which is building and upgrading car parks at stations to make it easier to catch the train.
The Car Parks for Commuters program is helping to deliver 11,000 new and upgraded car parks at train stations across metropolitan and regional Victoria – on top of the almost 10,000 new and upgraded car parks delivered between 2014 and 2018.
The new and upgraded car parks will free up local streets, make it easier to catch the train, improve safety, and generate jobs across the state.
