HEALTHY BOOST FOR DANDENONG HOSPITAL

Dandenong Hospital will share in a $60 million boost from the Andrews Labor Government to secure the latest advances in medical equipment and modernise vital engineering infrastructure.

Member for Dandenong, Gabrielle Williams, today announced 11 hospitals to receive funding from the $35 million Medical Equipment Replacement Program and 10 hospitals to receive funding from the $25 million Engineering Infrastructure Replacement Program.

These programs help hospitals keep pace with new developments in state-of-the-art medical equipment, while also improving efficiency and reliability by installing new models of hospital infrastructure.

Hospitals receiving funds from the Engineering Infrastructure Replacement Program will replace ageing items such as heating and air conditioning systems, nurse-call communication systems, as well as upgrading electrical, water and fire systems and lifts.

In the Dandenong electorate, Dandenong Hospital will receive funding to install a Voice over Internet protocol system.

The Labor Government’s Victorian Budget 2016/17 delivered an extra $2.45 billion for health, so hospitals can admit more patients, reduce waiting times, upgrade buildings and infrastructure and keep Victorians healthy.
