BREAKING DOWN BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT IN DANDENONG

Young jobseekers in Dandenong and Casey are getting opportunities to join the workforce and make a difference in their local communities thanks to the Andrews Labor Government’s Jobs Victoria program.

Holmesglen Institute of TAFE, not-for-profit agency Lend A Hand and employment provider iEmpower have teamed up to provide a new service for young people facing barriers to employment.

The Roads to Work initiative is on track to get 80 people into sustainable jobs. There are 50 people already participating in the scheme and 10 who’ve been successfully placed.

Under the program, jobseekers are assessed to identify the challenges they face in getting a job. Participants receive intensive support in a team-oriented environment with expert job coaches assisting them to boost their skills and pursue career pathways.

The Labor Government’s $53 million Jobs Victoria program is the state’s biggest ever employment drive, helping more than 4000 Victorians find sustainable jobs.
