Work is set to begin on the new Allan Street bridge, better connecting local residents between Dandenong South and the town centre.<\/p>\n

Member for Dandenong, Gabrielle Williams, today joined Mayor of the City of Greater Dandenong Councillor Heang Tak at Allan Street in Dandenong to announce that construction will commence this month.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The new bridge will be a two-lane vehicle and pedestrian link from the corner of Allan and Keneally streets over the Dandenong Creek to Morwell Avenue.<\/p>\n
The bridge is the final part of infrastructure in the development of the Metro Village 3175 estate. The project is expected to be completed in May 2017.<\/p>\n

The City of Greater Dandenong will own the bridge with Places Victoria delivering the project on the Council\u2019s behalf. The bridge will be built by Cut & Fill.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Revitalising Central Dandenong initiative, led by Places Victoria, has been a catalyst for more than $550 million of private sector investment in the Dandenong area, which is forecast to grow to $1.2 billion by the time the project is complete.<\/p>\n
Places Victoria recently transferred ownership of the former Masonic Hall in central Dandenong to the City of Greater Dandenong, which the Council will convert into an arts centre.<\/p>\n
