{"id":8673,"date":"2016-09-27T08:58:54","date_gmt":"2016-09-27T08:58:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gabriellewilliams.com.au\/dev\/war-heritage-collections-training-program-to-preserve-our-wartime-legacy\/"},"modified":"2024-08-07T09:49:58","modified_gmt":"2024-08-07T09:49:58","slug":"war-heritage-collections-training-program-to-preserve-our-wartime-legacy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gabriellewilliams.com.au\/dev\/war-heritage-collections-training-program-to-preserve-our-wartime-legacy\/","title":{"rendered":"WAR HERITAGE COLLECTIONS TRAINING PROGRAM TO PRESERVE OUR WARTIME LEGACY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Dandenong-Cranbourne RSL sub-branch has been selected to take part in a training program being delivered by Museums Australia and the Andrews Labor Government.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Member for Dandenong, Gabrielle Williams, today announced the organisation is one of five across Victoria taking part in the program, which aims to help ex-service organisations preserve, maintain and increase access to significant war heritage collections, such as World War I diaries and battlefield relics.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As part of the Program, the Dandenong-Cranbourne RSL sub-branch will receive:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Intensive museological support from Museums Australia<\/li>\n<li>A tailored report identifying conservation, significance and oral history priorities<\/li>\n<li>Up to $5000 to work with a conservation professional to stabilise, repair or rehouse at-risk memorabilia<\/li>\n<li>Support to identify significant items of memorabilia and catalogue onto the Victorian Collections website<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Program is a key initiative of the Labor Government\u2019s $1 million Veterans Heritage and History Strategy, released earlier this year. It\u2019s our way of ensuring local organisations who possess these treasured objects have the knowhow to preserve them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The War Heritage Collections Training Program will run between 2016 \u2013 2018.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>More details on a new War Heritage Roadshow will be announced soon.
