{"id":8671,"date":"2016-10-25T09:03:54","date_gmt":"2016-10-25T09:03:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gabriellewilliams.com.au\/dev\/dandenong-schools-to-be-upgraded\/"},"modified":"2024-08-07T09:48:24","modified_gmt":"2024-08-07T09:48:24","slug":"dandenong-schools-to-be-upgraded","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gabriellewilliams.com.au\/dev\/dandenong-schools-to-be-upgraded\/","title":{"rendered":"DANDENONG SCHOOLS TO BE UPGRADED"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students at Dandenong North Primary School will soon have better facilities, thanks to a boost of more than $40 million for school maintenance funding.<\/p>\n<p>Gabrielle Williams MP today announced Dandenong North Primary School will be one of 436 schools across Victoria that will share in $41.6 million to upgrade old buildings under the Andrews Labor Government\u2019s Planned Maintenance Program.<\/p>\n<p>Dandenong North Primary School will receive $148,000 under the program, with planning now under way.<\/p>\n<p>The Labor Government supports schools through the Planned Maintenance Program so that they can refurbish, demolish, or replace buildings that fall below minimum standards.<\/p>\n<p>Sixty-five schools shared in $10.8 million under the first round of funding earlier this year, which was provided to complement capital works projects funded at those schools in the Victorian Budget 2016\/17.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s announcement means a total of 501 schools will share in a record investment of $52.4 million in school maintenance this year.<\/p>\n<p>Two other Dandenong schools were provided additional funding, with Dandenong Primary School allocated $13,000 and Dandenong South Primary School receiving $6,000.<\/p>\n<p>A list of schools to receive upgrades under round two of the Planned Maintenance Program is available at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.schoolbuildings.vic.gov.au\/Pages\/Schools\/Planned-Maintenance-Funding.aspx\">www.schoolbuildings.vic.gov.au\/Pages\/Schools\/Planned-Maintenance-Funding.aspx<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Andrews Labor Government is building the Education State so that every Victorian student gets the opportunity for a great education and every community has access to a great school.<\/p>\n<p>There are now 42 new government schools and hundreds of school upgrades in the construction pipeline following the Government\u2019s record $1.8 billion investment in school infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>This school building boom will create 4000 construction jobs and ensure all Victorian families have access to a great school no matter where they live.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quotes attributable to Member for Dandenong, Gabrielle Williams<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Our local schools do an incredible job building the leaders of tomorrow, and maintaining quality educational facilities that keep pace with contemporary programs is an important part of that.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cDandenong North Primary School is a great local school that prides itself on excellence.
