{"id":8428,"date":"2020-10-20T09:52:37","date_gmt":"2020-10-20T09:52:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gabriellewilliams.com.au\/dev\/st-marys-primary-school-upgrade-funded-to-boost-economy\/"},"modified":"2024-08-06T20:43:06","modified_gmt":"2024-08-06T20:43:06","slug":"st-marys-primary-school-upgrade-funded-to-boost-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gabriellewilliams.com.au\/dev\/st-marys-primary-school-upgrade-funded-to-boost-economy\/","title":{"rendered":"ST MARY\u2019S PRIMARY SCHOOL UPGRADE FUNDED TO BOOST ECONOMY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"gmail-m-7116792248608608087msonospacing\" style=\"margin-bottom: 10.0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">The Victorian Government will fast-track funding for upgrades to Catholic and Independent schools across Victoria to give students and staff the best facilities sooner, and support local jobs, businesses and Victoria\u2019s economic recovery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"gmail-m-7116792248608608087msonospacing\" style=\"margin-bottom: 10.0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">Member for Dandenong, Gabrielle Williams, today announced St Mary\u2019s Primary School in Dandenong will receive $2 million as one of more than 50 projects under the Non-Government Schools Capital Fund. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"gmail-m-7116792248608608087msonospacing\" style=\"margin-bottom: 10.0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">These upgrades will provide an inclusive and welcoming school environment for students and their families, and will ensure that students have spaces which support their learning needs and allow them to reach their full potential. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"gmail-m-7116792248608608087msonospacing\" style=\"margin-bottom: 10.0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">The 56 projects will create close to 800 jobs during construction, and follows more than $1.18 billion for new schools, upgrades and expansions of government schools announced in May.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"gmail-m-7116792248608608087msonospacing\" style=\"margin-bottom: 10.0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">Additional funding for this second round of the Non-Government Schools Capital Fund has been brought forward to help stimulate the economy and create jobs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"gmail-m-7116792248608608087msonospacing\" style=\"margin-bottom: 10.0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">The successful schools will be able to start their projects within the next six months driving Victoria\u2019s economic recovery from the pandemic, and the summer\u2019s bushfires.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"gmail-m-7116792248608608087msonospacing\" style=\"margin-bottom: 10.0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">The projects will help these schools meet growing enrolment demand and includes six new schools in growth areas. More than a third of Victorian students attend Catholic or Independent schools.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"gmail-m-7116792248608608087msonospacing\" style=\"margin-bottom: 10.0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">It\u2019s part of the Government\u2019s election commitment to establish a $402 million fund in partnership with the non-government school sector to upgrade and build new non-government schools across Victoria.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"gmail-m-7116792248608608087msonospacing\" style=\"margin-bottom: 10.0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">The Victorian Government is building the Education State with an unprecedented $7.2 billion investment that is not only creating 7,500 jobs but improving, upgrading and building schools to ensure that every community can access a great local school where students are supported to achieve their best.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Victorian Government will fast-track funding for upgrades to Catholic and Independent schools across Victoria to give students and staff the best facilities sooner, and support local jobs, businesses and Victoria\u2019s economic recovery.
