PRINCIPAL APPOINTED FOR NEW ENDEAVOUR HILLS SPECIALIST SCHOOL

Endeavour Hills families are one step closer to accessing the education they deserve with the appointment of Susan Coull as principal of Endeavour Hills Specialist School (interim name), which is set to open in 2022.

Susan Coull has over 30 years of experience in working with children who have disabilities, most recently as the principal of the Currajong School in Malvern East.

During her extensive experience in education she has successfully led three specialist schools and holds a Master’s degree in special education. She is also a trained music therapist.

Susan has been appointed principal of Endeavour Hills Specialist School (interim name) following a thorough Department of Education process to select one of Victoria’s best and brightest educators to lead the school.

Endeavour Hills Specialist School (interim name) is being built with flexibility to allow it to meet the diverse needs of students with autism or a range of intellectual disabilities and will accommodate 288 students from prep to Year 12.

The state-of-the-art school will support the needs of the growing population in the local area and will include learning environments that acknowledge the developmental differences of students aged from 5-18 years by creating separate learning community buildings for early years, middle school and senior students.

Specific areas within the buildings are also designed to support students with medium to high care needs by providing a separate kitchen, small learning space and fully assisted toilet.

Each learning community building will also include two specialist spaces where students will take part in media and communications, drama and physical activities, art, science, home craft and technology studies, with middle and senior students also having a dedicated life skills space.

In the past seven years, the Victorian Government has invested more than $10.9 billion in building new schools and more than 1,700 school upgrades, creating around 13,500 jobs in construction and associated industries.

It is ahead of schedule in its commitment to open 100 new schools by 2026, with 48 new schools opening between 2019 and 2022.
