NEW ROAD SAFETY PROGRAM FOR KINDERGARTENS IN DANDENONG

Some of our youngest Dandenong residents will soon get the chance to learn how to be safer around local roads.

Member for Dandenong, Gabrielle Williams, today announced that Dandenong West Primary School will receive $7,800 to teach students how to be safer near roads and on their bikes. The school will build an asphalt traffic course that will be used by three local kindergartens as part of their road and bike education programs. The course will have road conditions which mimic real traffic so children can learn about road safety in a simulated environment.

The funding is part of the Transport Accident Commission’s Community Road Safety Grants Program which provides grants of up to $25,000 to community and not-for profit groups to promote road safety. The school was amongst 20 Victorian community groups to receive Community Road Safety Grants in the latest round.
