NEW ROAD SAFETY PROGRAM FOR KINDERGARTENS IN DANDENONG

Some of Dandenong’s youngest residents can now learn how to be safer around local roads with the opening of a traffic course at Dandenong West Primary School.

Member for Dandenong, Gabrielle Williams, today launched the opening of the brand-new course which will teach students how to be safer near roads and on their bikes.

Dandenong West Primary School received $7,800 funding as part of the Transport Accident Commission’s Community Road Safety Grants Program to build the asphalt traffic course that will be used by three local kindergartens as part of their road and bike education programs. The course will have road conditions which mimic real traffic so children can learn about road safety in a simulated environment.

The Community Road Safety Grants Program provides grants of up to $25,000 to community and not-for profit groups to promote road safety. The school was amongst 20 Victorian community groups to receive Community Road Safety Grants in the latest round.
