FUNDING TO SUPPORT RAILWAY PARADE SHOPPING PRECINCT UPGRADES

The Andrews Labor Government is continuing to support the Noble Park community with the infrastructure and services it needs to grow and thrive.

Member for Dandenong, Gabrielle Williams MP, today announced $200,000 to support upgrades at the Railway Parade Neighbourhood Shopping Precinct in Noble Park, through the Labor Government’s Living Local Fund.

The project, to be delivered by the City of Greater Dandenong, will see upgrades to the streetscape of the Railway Parade Neighbourhood Shopping Precinct, at the corner of Railway Parade and Chandler Road in Noble Park.

The funding will help the project deliver new paving, introduce street trees within carparks, provide new landscaped areas with seating and opportunities for outdoor dining, street furniture and public art. The total project valuing $800,000, will improve the local amenity and safety while also stimulating local business activity.

This project will be complemented by the new 55 space Yarraman Station carpark for commuters, being constructed by the Andrews Labor Government. The carpark is located opposite the Railway Parade Shopping Precinct with new pedestrian paths connecting commuters and residents to the shops.

More than 400 projects across the state will be supported through the Fund, with $15 million available for suburban projects and another $5 million for the regions.

Local councils and community organisations have received grants of up to $200,000 for upgrades to shopping strips, playgrounds, community gardens and public art projects, or to buy new equipment or carry out minor refurbishment works.

From playground upgrades in Pakenham to the creation of an Aboriginal community art gallery in Ballarat, the Living Local Fund is supporting a wealth of diverse and important locally led projects right across Victoria.

The Living Local Fund is part of the Government’s Our Suburbs: Living Local and Our Regions: Living Local Initiatives.
