DANDENONG PRIMARY SCHOOL TO TURN LEARNING INTO AN ARTFORM

Students and teachers at Dandenong Primary School are set to turn learning into an artform thanks to a $35,000 grant through the Victorian Government’s new Creative Learning Partnerships program.

Member for Dandenong, Gabrielle Williams, today announced the grant, which will support the school to partner with Monash University Museum of Art and lead artist Kym Maxwell, to work with Grade 3 and 4 students to research school-yard play, journaling stories, archiving objects and examining relationships and negotiations.

Dandenong Primary School is one of seventeen Victorian schools, from Coburg to Clunes, that will share in grants totalling $288,000 in the inaugural round of the Creative Learning Partnerships program.

The Creative Learning Partnerships program supports projects that use creativity as a catalyst for student learning. Projects run for a minimum of 20 school days.
