BOOSTING HEMMINGS STREET SHOPPING STRIP

The Victorian Government’s Neighbourhood Activity Centre Renewal Fund is delivering a boost for Hemmings Street Shopping Strip as part of the Building Works Program.

Member for Dandenong, Gabrielle Williams, today announced the Hemmings Street Shopping Strip in Dandenong is receiving $100,000 for improvements to encourage locals to stay and shop and create a safer area for people living locally.

This funding will be provided to City of Greater Dandenong to make improvements to the shopping strip, including the construction of a landscaped parklet and landscaping around the shopping centre. The project will see the completion of the final Stage 4 revitalisation works for the Hemmings Street neighbourhood shopping strip. The on-ground works will create local jobs, while supporting local businesses, including retailers, cafes, restaurants and service providers.

The $3 million Neighbourhood Activity Centre Renewal Fund is providing dozens of local suburban shopping strips with grants to stimulate business activity, support local jobs and improve both public amenity and confidence to accelerate post-coronavirus (COVID-19) recovery.

The Victorian Government is working in partnership with local government to provide this much needed support to local businesses and the community.
