$10M FOR MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES TO SMOOTH THE PATH TO NDIS

Mental health service providers will be ready to offer the best care when it comes to transitioning over to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), thanks to a $10 million investment from the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Dandenong, Gabrielle Williams, today announced mental health service provider Ermha as one of 18 organisations to receive a funding boost through the NDIS Transition Support Package.

Ermha will receive $506,000 for three projects to develop workforce capability and new business systems for client management, billing and booking, to manage the cost of doing business in the NDIS.

It will also help projects responding to significant workforce challenges such as increasing the mental health and disability workforce and retraining existing staff to adapt to the NDIS delivery model.

The NDIS Transition Support Package will be provided over two years to help organisations adapt their business models and organisational capability, to ensure they operate efficiently as a NDIS-funded service provider.

The Labor Government has provided a further $10 million over two years in the Victorian Budget 2018/19 to support the wider disability sector, including support for people from Aboriginal communities and diverse backgrounds to overcome barriers to transition, and improvements to hospital discharge processes.

Since 2016, we have invested more than $40 million in the NDIS Transition Support Packages program and have extended transition support to the end of 2020.
